"I was a lifeguard in the late 80s earning $7.25...We know over a quarter of the people working in minimum wage jobs have children. This is supporting families...at poverty level." - on explaining the dire need to raise the minimum wage

It's been a dozen years since it last was raised, beating even the 9 years during the Reagan/Bush Era. That NORMALLY would be a raise around every 5 years.

Does Lawrence still have a podcast? Seems no new ones for several weeks? Anyone
I agree that the minimum wage needs to be raised, but doubling that amount during a pandemic when businesses are struggling is horribly counterproductive. Can I afford to double my payroll costs? NO. There's only one way to get around that... job cuts.
I remember working in the early 90's trying to help pay for college while making $4.65/hour. Training the $5/hour people. I could never get enough hours...

I’m really happy that they want to raise the minimum wage...it’s long past due. However, I feel $15 is a slap in the face to people making that salary after many YEARS at their job! Are THEY going to get a raise? Be prepared: Businesses will raise prices to compensate.
Soooooo out of touch - how STUPID that sounds!!! 80s that wage currently equates to about $25/hr.
