Fair point on the link. The stopping of debate and killing of the bill is particularly awful since the house passed a reform bill. In what could have been a bipartisan coming together moment, Senate Democrats failed, big time.
Do you know why those few Repubs voted “no”? And why the NAACP encouraged a “no” vote? I am genuinely curious. Maybe @mattyglesias will cover it. He’s a centrist Dem who gets Congress. I don’t get why everything has to be done in one mega-bill. Plus, we need another stimulus.
Large bills have become popular since both houses are increasingly dysfunctional. The NAACP is less an independent voice and more left wing centered.
