OK folks, listen - can we PLEASE stop calling them "incels"? "Involuntary Celibate" is a bullshit term for people who are such assholes nobody will sleep with them. It implies that they're somehow "owed" sex by the world, and that's not true, so can we stop encouraging them?

So.. I think maybe the term helps out victims of such behavior to gain solidarity with others more than it validates the struggle of an “incel”.

Sorry, but I'm not buying into that logic. "incel" is their term, it implies an entitlement to sex, and because it's "involuntary" (forced) it implies the right to take sex *by force* to "remedy" that situation. I'm not giving them that acknowledgement.

If you need an encompassing term for these people we've had one since before I was born: Scumbags. If you want to be more specific about the obviously-dangerous ones: Rapey scumbags.

I see.. I only recently discovered the term, and I didn’t realize it was a term that THEY coined for themselves. If that is the case, then I agree with you Maybe I don’t fully get the cultural context around this. I’ll Google around In any case, I suppose Scumbug would apply

The history of "incel" as it's used today is basically the history of /r/incel over on @reddit if you want a good starting point. These folks are pretty deranged IMHO.
