Welsh Government has confirmed that it will nationalise the rail network after talks broke down with private provider KeolisAmey, who were hoping to profit from overpriced tickets for the next 15 years. Privatisation benefits company shareholders, not workers or passengers.pic.twitter.com/mVFzWrHXYP

This brings to an end a sorry chapter of rail privatisation in Wales, where Welsh Government have allowed profiteers to make huge sums of money on the back of crumbling trains, soaring prices & and the outsourcing of services.

But it was the same Welsh Government that awarded them the contract in the first place! It's only happening because a pandemic collapsed the industry.

That's pretty much what happened before. British Rail was nationalised in 1948 after WWII collapsed the industry. Rebuilding stuff from the ashes is how most industries end up state owned.

There is absolutely no reason any public transit service should be privately owned.

Transport for London will have £13bn in debt by 2023. That's why.

'financial engineer'. learn from a real engineer - you're wrong. 99% of what engineers do is invisible, because it consists of making sure things don't go wrong, and that takes a lot of work, and is completely & utterly thankless. I guess you never have your car serviced?
