As a woman, try as I might, I can only see this as control and regression. Wearing it because you want to, I get, but because many *have* to, or else suffer the consequences...that, I have trouble with.

No one is forcing YOU to wear it. Many women don’t want to show skin at the beach or while swimming and this is a perfectly good option for them. Not everything is about you Robyn with a Y
-
Are u really that ignorant? You do realize that there are several middle eastern countries that have LAWS that require women to cover up or else face jail time. Literally look it up there many countries that have actual laws forcing women to wear this stuff or face punishment.
-
Halima is based in America and so is the magazine and there’s no laws over there forcing anyone. The woman I was replying to doesn’t live in those countries
-
No duh Halima and sports illustrated is based America. LITERALLY do your research, your saying “there’s no laws over there” without even knowing your facts! Iran is one of many countries that have laws that forced women to wear a hijab. These facts are easy to find

-
We also have laws here preventing a woman from walking around shirtless, so what's the diff if one culture requires a little more than the other? Opression is real but not in every context
-
Did u really ask what’s the difference between forcing a women to wear to hijab and not allowing full blown public nudity? Lmao. Wow you people are truly ignorant I mean wow!

News flash public nudity laws in America apply to men to!

-
Honeslty hope your that passionate about American women rights and maternity rights as you are about another country. That's the prob. A woman in America wears a hijab in a magazine, and you turn it into an issue of women in other countries

Someone educate me on why liberals idolize or praise the hijab which stands for oppression of women and masculinity in men. LITERALLY everything liberals say they are against.

-
All women are beautiful and should be represented as such. Idolize, praise, blah blah blah... she's beautiful, she's on the cover. Control your hate.
-
Control the hate? Why don’t you grow the fuck up. A different opinion isn’t hate!

This is the West attempting to normalize oppression. The entire point of the hijab is modesty. So to not sexualize/objectify women. But then she poses for a magazine that sexualizes/objectifies women? FFS. This is like someone claiming to be a Christian...
-
yet they’ve never opened the Bible, aren’t active in a church community, and make up their own rules (secular in nature - moral relativism). Doesn’t work that way. Sorry.

So female submission is now a beautiful thing

-
Women choosing to cover up or not is beautiful, yes. Not everyone should have to wear a bikini to go to the beach.
-
This isn’t a choice and if you disagree ask the women of Iran that have been thrown in prison for their CHOICE to remove it. The fact your equating being forced to wear a hijab and wanting to cover up at the beach is idiotic. No one is shaming women for not wearing a 2 piece.
-
Yes let’s celebrate your nonsense.

This is a joke right! Bc alhjab is meant to keep the woman sexuality from prying eyes. So now the definition is hey look how beautiful I am and how sexually I can be. So why bother wearing Alhjab! Wait it's for publicity and ratings got it. You go girl
