Many thanks for asking. I don’t know if I would say hypocritical but I don’t think it necessarily helps the message. But then what is the message. There are two different types of feminism nowadays. One seems true equality and the other doesn’t.
-
Here are 2 issues we face as
#feminists. One is a denial of free choice & a "your bad for the sisterhood" attitude: https://unherd.com/2018/02/feminism-may-won-vote-lost-way/ …. The other is that we won't have full equality until we stop putting the "#MaleGaze" ahead of#MyBodyMyChoice (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/blog/battle-over-breasts-are-bare-breasted-feminists-hypocritical …). -
Things are in many ways moving backwards for women's freedom - if we are to stop that, we must challenge the belief responsible for so many historic restrictions on women: the idea that their bodies are the root of sin https://www.pluralist.com/posts/1212-cambridge-professor-who-showed-up-naked-to-dinner-says-she-got-verbal-abuse-from-women … 1/2pic.twitter.com/cVJmrUyqmz

That attitude is responsible for so many things: women being forced to cover up; having their mobility restricted (e.g. requiring permission from a man to travel; footbinding); restrictions on women working (as our "virtue" could be compromised!). And even things like
#FGM. -
But none of that is happing here in the West, maybe in other parts of the World, but not here. So why do you have to act like those are issues that you have to face?

No. Not in an academic or professional setting.
-
But, what do
#academics aim to do? Push forward the frontier of knowledge; question existing assumptions; raise difficult questions. Think outside of the box. Sometimes that requires wearing something other than a suit and a#gown.#feminism#MyBodyMyChoicepic.twitter.com/m5wcZtFgzhThis media may contain sensitive material. Learn more

I'd hope, an element of professionalism, especially in prestige. I'm not questioning your choice, I'm questioning your professionalism and the time and place. I spent summer's at German lidos so I'm used to not being bothered by naked people, but here?
-
I can say for sure that the same discussion and engagement doesn't happen when I'm on a beach! Sometimes we have to cross boundaries in order to pose difficult questions and get a discussion going that can, in the end, hopefully produce a freer and more tolerant world.
-
Well I'd disagree, Britain is quite prudish and to be naked on a non nude specific beach would probably spark the same controversy you've created here. Do you think being naked, male or female, would be the right thing to do in a place of work or business, even in that world?
-
It's in an academic setting. And academics are supposed to think outside of the box. Our goal is to advance the frontier of knowledge and to make the world a better place. Hence, there's no better place to try to do that.
-
Your cyclical reasoning is extremely indicative of a bigger problem here, a lack of self awareness and the fact that you very clearly do not get the point of what Mr. Del Toro is probing

If a straight White man showed up to professional dinner naked with MRA slogan scribbled on his body, you would absolutely screech. And he would absolutely be fired for sexual harassment. Congrats, you highlighted a double standard of female entitlement. Bravo.
