I have a different opinion, all that anti-cheat should do is ensure the integrity of the game, not the kernel. Just force to enable all windows security features, which guarantee kernel integrity itself, and work is done.
Unless you force virtualization-based mechanisms, Windows does not have any feasible protection against game-hacking like this.

Yes, that’s what I'm talking about, SecureBoot/VBS/HVCI is a thing, isn't it? Windows also provide a bunch of mitigation policies and other legitimate security things that decrease the attack surface of any program including games.

It's not feasible to force this upon the average gamer, as it assumes everyone has chipsets with virtualization-support.
