My issue isn't with the story, which is newsworthy. It's with the NYT calling it "Breaking News." But I'm not one of those guys saying it doesn't matter, Trump or no Trump, so there's that. It all matters.

I'm old-school that way. Pre-cable, "Breaking News" used to mean an current event so newsworthy and of such grave import, it "broke into" regularly scheduled network shows to go to the newsroom for live coverage/reporting. JFK assassination was Breaking News. Moon Landing. ..

... A terrorist attack. A devastating earthquake in LA. Today, esp. on CNN and because of clickbait SM, anything that comes across the news desk is called Breaking News. Because this story is abt. an 8-year-old event, it is newsworthy, but it's not "Breaking News" in my book.
