In Super Mario 64, if Mario falls from the top of Whomp's Fortress and touches the ramp just as he reaches zero health, he will be caught in an animation of repeatedly hitting his face against the ramp while slowly descending. After several minutes, Mario will finally die.

All hardware sent in to Nintendo for repair is tested using system-specific software. One GBA test cartridge contains a bizarre graphics test where images of Donkey Kong, Chunky Kong and Diddy Kong are displayed and then censored to test the console's mosaic tiling functionality.

While watching the 1986 Super Mario Bros. movie I noticed that its OST features a pretty nice rendition of the VS. SMB high score name registration music! Here's a comparison between the two versions:

Happy Easter! And remember this important advice from professional graphic designers:

Two rabbit drawings, one in a cartoon style holding an Easter eggs basket, and the other with a more realistic style standing inside another larger Easter eggs basket. Upper caption : "Do not combine cartoon images with serious graphics.". Bottom caption: "One of these rabbits is represented as a cartoon, the other is represented
realistically. They do not combine well because of their stylistic differences."

In 1958, NBC inaugurated its first color television studio by performing this surreal switch to color on a live broadcast!

In Tall Tall Mountain in Super Mario 64, it is possible to skip the slide by jumping to the alcove with the star directly. However, this can also be deadly; as it was not designed to be entered this way, the imprecise collision can cause Mario to clip through the wall and die.

I had a Casio CGW-50 Cosmo Phase watch that featured a "live" display of the solar system, including Halley's comet's position. It was Y2K ready, as it supported dates from 1901 to 2200! I wish I still had mine, they go for >$500 on ebay!

Another happy little accident...now if you turn WIREFRAME MODE to ON+ (past on), you'll get this new wonderful mode, random polys turned into wireframes. I just love breaking this game as much as I love modding it xDD
