This is ARKit's A-ha moment (now shorter and embedded)

My kanthal rheostat lets me drive both bulbs, and keep them biased a little so the thermal shock is reduced.

Gas discharge oscillator developed a leak, so relay it will have to be for today...

Why is the LIS2DH temperature offset unspecified/uncontrolled? The datasheet sucks BTW, reading it you'd assume absolute temperature.

Blobbing in the studio today w/ the Vive + ARKit. Definitely some huge mixed reality potential here. 😍😍😍😍

The prettier bulb is pretty much the same, ohmic above and below a knee. Starts glowing at 1.25 volt, good brightness at 3 volts.

The long and skinny light bulb is pretty ohmic below 1 volt and above 2.5 volts. It starts visibly glowing at 3.75 volts. Science!

I didn't blow out a stylish bulb on this one, and it has a far more conventional construction. I was worried it would crack in the annealer.

Runs orange hot at 2.7 volts, the filament it molybdenum so I don't wanna push it too hard.

  14. Jul 9

Yay, it survived being sealed off!

  15. Jul 9

The filament started with some hot spots but I annealed it carefully. Still slowly darkening the envelope.

My lightbulb works! Not sure I want to thermal cycle it too much blinking for the competition...

Hmmm, reality disagrees with the static timing analysis...

Time to tighten and lube my transfer chain, it has been clicking a lot lately.

Why do I always forget that SysTick can't be disabled by NVIC_DisableIRQ()...

Yes Valve is hiring computer vision people. I get asked this a lot. We are always hiring all disciplines and SteamVR HMDs have cameras!
