More importantly John their habitat may have halved. Rubber and other economic priorities may have caused this ‘migration’

Why is it so difficult to pay forest staff on time? If we expect forest guards to work, we also need to ensure they get paid on time. First Dampa, now Pakke.

Are bigger than their moms when out of the nest? The plumpness may be due to fat stored as a chick. More down feathers could be there for warmth & the posture & large gape can also make them appear larger. Plumbeous as an eg.

Same situation prevailing in Dampa, for many years. Requests fell on deaf ears. Staff went on strike this year to get pay. Problem will recur because its not yet solved. Also staff working for 20+ years are still on measly daily wage despite 200+ vacancies.

Long hours of hard work not to forget can be life threatening, not so ideal living conditions, domestic responsibilities and on the top of it no salary to make a living! How cynical and left with no other options, kind of situation could this be for an individual to live with.

Delhi or NCR is part of the Aravalli chainwith a xerophytic vegetation. Most of the trees mentioned are not native Delhi trees. Try Flora of Delhi by JK Maheshwari or contact Prof Babu DU and or Pradeep Kishan for better understanding

We need to keep our backbone strong to face the adversities. Role of frontline force - even daily wagers, in protection and management of a tiger reserve can not be undermined and the dues of staff of should be cleared soonest possible.

Forestry and Wildlife protection activities are of special nature and need to be executed within the prescribed time frame ! They cannot be treated as yet another Govt programme whereby the funds are often unpredictable & provided at the end of FY in most cases !

What is happening to our . Sad to see temporary workers of Pakke Tiger reserve for on strike. They are unpaid for 6 months. Centre-State relations must be sorted out and fund disbursals too. I hope and will take note

My favourite place the Lodi Gardens harkens back to the 13th century and was called Khairpur. Later used by the Lodis (first pic of an illustration from 17th century Lodhi tomb) Sayyed (next 3 pix. Recent), Mughals and the British. Now by me!

Red-rumped build half-cup earthen nests stuck to cliff faces or buildings. The Himalayan race is resident and I found this pair flying to and fro every 3 minutes or so to a small mud puddle on the road, pick up a glob of mud in its beak and fly off

The Indian Blue Robin is quite a looker, what say? People look for it in winters in wet forests& find them rarely. But in summers, in places like look for a moist valley with viburnum bushes & you get them in the open! 4th female!

Nutcrackers are funny looking crows adapted to eat large nuts. The Kashmir Nutcracker can take nuts as large as or as delicate as pine seeds. Wonderful that is played along for me.
