...an SQLite file extracted from an iTunes backup. The app thankfully keeps soft-deletes still available in the db. I used iExplorer.

Still not sure how that happened. Might have been iCloud *or* something else. I should have known better and have a second backup, though.

Still, it ended well. But I am going to keep backup copies of everything in Dropbox, as I used to do before.
