“A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which....

Two follows I recommend in the aspect of building a product/service/company: - with his - with his A live case study in how to build a service from scratch, going from market research, testing, feedback, etc. Endorsed follows.

Every Saturday, I don't go on Twitter (main source of distraction) and heavily limit all other "checking" activities. I can better focus on things like reading for hours at a time, which is not a usual occurrence during my typical week. Less stimulation --> easier focus.

Think about the next 8 hours. There are many ways of using them, some deliberate, some mindless. Some ways are all about pleasure and leave you empty. Some ways are about doing what matters to you and make you proud. Some ways are habitual, some are new. Which will you choose?

Some problems are hard. Some are easy, but we make them hard. Always be in lookout for how you're over-complicating things.

The hard part often isn't having an insight or the right information. It's taking that information and applying it over and over again. Deducing from the general idea the specific implementation. Cultivate not letting the world come between your idea and its execution.

Evergreen tip: try working on something for 10 minutes. We often think work will be harder than it actually is. Put 10 min on the clock and work on a task you've been putting off Pro-tip - before you do: 1) Put your phone out of sight, reach, on silent 2) Close all social media

Most British comics says straight up what most American comics would never utter. Big part of British comedy is perpetual roasting.

Each person I know can introduce a contrast of standards that can be the basis for a more thoughtful and interesting life. I want to avoid the mistake of clinging to my habits when there are better ones available, with the only barrier being the fact I've never tried them.

I like to observe different people's standards. David Goggins' "normal" workout is different from mine. Gary Vee's "normal" social media production is different from mine (yes, he has a whole agency). Naval's "normal" routine meditation is different from mine. Food for thought

Same time, different activities, different results, mainly for different people. Every one of us creates the normal habitual, unquestioned paths and then becomes increasing resistant to change over time, clinging to familiarity. Different people develop different standards.

I'm fascinated by the different ways I, and others, could spend time and the related mental patterns. Time: 15 minutes Habitual use: spend it on Twitter - no problem with that. New use: meditate - "I don't have the time." exercise - "I don't have the right equipment." ...

Remember: in the morning, focus on creating momentum. If you're motivated, great jump into a high-priority task! If you're not motivated, take smalls steps. Answer an email, review a doc, flip through slides... When you're not motivated, do small tasks to generate momentum.

Motivation comes in waves. When you sense a wave coming, ride it. Take action immediately, forget everything else (unless you truly can't). Act on motivation. Then look for or create new waves.
