  1. Great new piece by asking the question: 'Who is the consumer in competition/antitrust law'? Consumer as chooser, as worker, as citizen?

‘The intro of a new standard of fairness would require companies to think deeply about the nature of their relationship with their customers & how they are contracting with them.... when you think about it, that is what responsible business is all about.’

Received mid-year feedback for my Public Law module yesterday. Things I was asked to continue doing: - Making stupid jokes. - Using memes. Things I was asked to stop: - Brexit. Better get to work...

In finalised video surveillance guidance, the EDPB maintains that whole demographic classification does not trigger the biometric aspect of Article 9, tracking individuals around a shop (even if you did not know who they are) does. Manifestly made public exemption inapplicable.

I am putting together a new course on Technology and Society for humanities and law students. I know there are people out there doing this and I would appreciate any syllabuses etc. I’m interested in AI, big data (& ownership), ethics & regulation. Thanks

1/11: It’s the start of the Australian academic year, time for another stoush about free communication with the so-called ‘defence’ forces of my own country. (And a cheerful reminder that my views are my own and not the official position of the University of Melbourne.)
