    New year's work resolutions: 1) complain less. It might be justified, but I don't think it's good for me to dwell. 2) There are things about my job that I don't love, but I do love the material. I need to remember that and find the joy in it again.

    The idea of an "alpha dog" is a pseudoscientific patriarchal fantasy that undermines the actual relationships within a dog or wolf pack and has, imo, played directly into our current politics of power and terror.

    That makes much more sense. On a similar topic, does the "alpha" dog and "pack" mentality actually apply to large groups of dogs, or is that a myth thing?

    Does anyone here have a good gameified-ish productivity app they can recommend? I've been into Pomodoro-style stuff (since before Pomodoro existed, actually!) but I just tried using Forest and my tree died when I went to pay for my parking spot, so, no.

    Hot take after reading the article: dude is aware of his privilege and lives in a house with a bunch of roommates, making his share of living expenses (internet, housekeeper etc) understandably low and I have no idea why people are worked up
