Have been wondering who are the mainlanders visiting HK at this time, given the state media coverage. Earlier at TST, saw a protester chatting in Mandarin with a Shenzhen tourist. The mainland guy said he had been reading news about HK with a VPN and

and didn’t think protesters were scary. Another mainland family walked by, the father said he also knew what’s going on, and chose to visit HK because it’s not crowded. In the end the protester shook hands with the Shenzhen guy “thank you for supporting us,” he said in Mandarin.
