This. I’ve always believed more companies should do this. A candidate’s negotiating prowess should stop being a factor in compensation.

Considering printing articles I want to read vs reading them online. It comes full circle.

I of course realize accredited investor rules (which I don't agree with) effectively prevent this from happening.

Would love to see a VC/seed firm that raises money from thousands of common people and gives them a chance at 1000x return on the next breakout unicorn.

If you are considering starting/co-founding a startup in the very near future, there is no better group of people/community to be a part of!

Can't begin to imagine what Kobe Bryant must've felt in the final moments with his daughter there. RIP . Helicopters just feel like an unpredictable, borderline dangerous mode of transport.

2020 VC memo on company profitability reminds me of the Sequoia Cap 2008 RIP Good Times memo.

Reading Team Of Rivals. People took up lots of professions “back in the day”. Specialization seems to be a modern illness.

Can't say if this is a wider phenomenon or my sample size, but I think we're seeing an explosion of profitable businesses run by one person or very small teams. Many are/will compete with funded companies, which doesn't bode well for cos that have raised too much capital.

Over-engineering is much worse than under-engineering. The effects of under-engineering can at least be felt immediately. But over-engineering takes a while to show and by then you've wasted an enormous amount of time and money.

Most non-technical founders seem to have a relatively easier time transitioning from IC work to higher leverage activities than most technical founders. It would serve engineers well to look at code as a means to an end and not be so attached to it.

For all the things it does well, you realize America doesn’t understand some basic things only when you travel to Europe (or most other parts of the world) - coffee, bread, public transit, how to be affectionate with other people’s (stranger’s) babies.

The 2nd cohort of fellowship wrapped up this past weekend. I can't fully capture in words how valuable the past 8 weeks have been to me. Being surrounded by a phenomenal group of founders/talent all in the early stages of building their next thing is like rocket fuel.
