I was supposed to attend the Lit Fest Mushaira at Hindu College DU, tomorrow. Now it's postponed because threats were received to forcibly enter the premises & disturb the event. And CRPF personnel have been deployed outside the college. Are we not going to have Lit Fests now?

A fantastic English translation of my poem Hindustani Musalmaan—keeping intact the rhythm and rhyme—was written by Dipika Mukherjee and Udit Mehrotra, and got published in World Literature Today. Glad and grateful :) Link:

Good morning. To solve a crime, you don't drag everyone in the area to the police thana and force them to prove they didn't do it To detect some undocumented migrants, you don't drag all 1.3 billion Indians to the local babu and force them to prove their citizenship

I saw a license plate yesterday that said "NRGRETS" and I've been thinking all day about just how many regrets "n" could represent.

Rajmohan Gandhi (biographer, and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) recited my poem 'Chhipkali' at a lecture organised by Institute of South Asian Studies at UC Berkeley yesterday. Really glad to share a video of it. Translation and video courtesy, Jyoti Bachani.

I’m astonished. Do you know the racist history of the British slogan, once common in India, that you’re playing upon?

You don't need to know history to be Hindu. But if you want to know why most Hindus today worship different gods than Hindus did 3,000 years ago, what happened to animal sacrifice, where the word "Hindu" comes from, in short, how Hinduism changed over time... that's all history.

You know, I thought that the Bluetooth icon looked very runic, especially with the dots that show up when a device is connected. Turns out, it *is* made from two Viking futhark runes! ᚼ (hagall) + ᛒ (bjarkan) = HB = Harald Bluetooth, a Danish king
