Hats off to everyone building great products 💜

Lifesaver for working on battery and tethered. Small Mac app that blocks & monitors network usage by apps. Saves battery and data.

on iPad By far the best note taking/sketching app. Infinite canvas and way better than Apple's Freeform. Best feature: SVG export

- was dubious switching from keychain but love being able to switch between chrome/safari/firefox with my passwords. Also 2FA and CC auto filing works better.

- Gmail client on mac that just works, without fluff. Similar UI to Apple mail but better.

For tweeting without getting sucked in the feed. Since I subscribed the product got a lot better too.

- auto skips the intros/outros/ads sections on Youtube videos. Compounded, huge time saver.

Replaced my mac's spotlight and never looked back. Much better than Alfred. Lots of actually-useful plugins. My favs: kill process, hypersonic, spotify controls & typefully

This year, I tested hundreds of apps & products. The few that I stuck with:

Satisfied w/ my December's stats 🔥 Building in public still feels a bit uncomfortable, but I'm gonna keep at it through 2023

Results not so good. Trying now with davinci, smaller dataset (100 emails) and epoch = 2 instead of 4 to keep more of that gpt magic. Fine-tune cost: $1.38

$0.6 to finetune on 220 emails with curie, after cleaning the dataset and removing unnecessary text (signatures, links, etc.). Would be ~6$ with davinci

Currently trying to download & clean all the mails I sent this year to fine-tune my own gpt model 🤖. Trying to see if the quality increases dramatically

Thinking of getting an iPad for note taking + dual monitor when traveling. Anyone uses it like that? How's the experience?

😢 Last day in Lombok, spent an amazing 2 months here. So less crowded than Bali. Epic surf sessions almost every day. Next stop: Kuala Lumpur 🇲🇾

in a talk: AI was predicted to disrupt blue-collar jobs first (factory, manual, etc), then low and high skill white-collar jobs, and lastly if not never creative jobs. But turns out it's happening the exact opposite way

Next: improving quality & creativity of results. 🎛️ 2 things I changed - went from 3 prompts to 5 (added prompts specific to 'videos' & 'influencers' marketing) - instead of cranking 'maxTokens', running multiple times the prompts with a high temperature (varied results)

Day 3 of building 🤖 marketingideas.ai First: needed a better UI to quickly filter the generated ideas. Solution: tinder like swipe cards

annnd after struggling with a couple bugs, it's ready just on time (11:45pm) ⌛️ Shipped in 36 hours ⛴️✅ Working MVP: marketingideas.ai Pretty happy with the ai results but will keep on improving it. Next step: use it to generate ideas on how to market itself

Improved the regex (= asked chatgpt ^^) to better format the supplied ideas. Will push online now

Starting to get more creative ideas, lot of fun seeing gpt come up with those

Also, wanted to make it generate "how tos" for every idea, but it consumes too many tokens (of the gpt api). If I want to generate 100 ideas with howto, would be like ~50k tokens = cost of $10 💸 might keep that for later or as an upsell.

Now I want to improve the UI and improve the prompts to get more 'genuine' results, that feel less spammy

ok took me a bit longer but payments are working 🎉 It redirects back to the page and starts generating all the content

One thing that struck me in Brazil is how you can pay *everywhere* with credit card & pix. Even the guy selling icecream has a card reader. Curious to see how the cbdc will fit
