I think LibDems are a party in decline and may be at the end of its history as a party. Its time in coalition, position on student funding, and its position on the EU referendum has not served it well in the public perspective and other party’s are grabbing the mddle ground

It's in LD's interests to pursue EU elections as they use proportional representation as opposed to FPTP. In UK elections in 2017, LD got 7.4% vote share but 1.8% MPs (compare SNP getting 3% vote share and 5.4% MPs). They have a better chance of getting more MEPs than MPs
