Would love to read the story behind this and what it was really about. Of course we were going to take it down. China knew that. So of course there was no real tech or value in the payload. So, what was it really about?

Google self-preferences its own products. All the big tech giants do. This reduces competition, makes the playing field unfair for startups Consumers lose because of lack of choice But as @jeremys notes, Google's path up was protected by fair play protections in the late 90's

What is noteworthy is that Munger was clearly wrong in his assessment. Msft got better and stronger. And competition allowed Google to emerge and thrive. Creating a competitive marketplace and supporting entrepreneurship is our competitive advantage, not supporting monopolies.

Feeling that energy in SF this week? The latest startup class is in session, and we heard over 250 companies are building in-person in SF! The economic recovery is in full swing. A big SF welcome to all the new builders!

This Congresswoman clearly does not understand what is a stock buyback and why companies do them. A stock buyback is just a dividend. It has no theoretical economic impact. Except, it is more tax efficient than a dividend and less sticky/committing than a dividend.

In case you’re curious about why this man is so angry with me, it may be because I introduced an amendment to a GOP bill that would prohibit oil and gas companies who engage in stock buybacks from leasing federal lands. Seems as though I hit a nerve! 😇 twitter.com/Acyn/status/16…

Again by far my biggest worry about Elon Twitter is that we’ll have too little free speech not too much — if he’s willing to do this for the Indian prime minister consider Xi’s influence…. interc.pt/3Ww3hHv
Why is Twitter pushing the "For you" feed? I guess it drives engagement for the long tail, but it seems to me it is a significant UX tax on heavy users.

Could it be that one of the biggest M&A advisors actually has an extremely inexperienced corp dev team. They may know how to build a model in a spreadsheet, but actually lack the experience. Not sure how else this can be explained.

Everything is obvious once it's happened. But Frank, the student aid assistance startup acquired by JPM for $175m, seems like the most obvious con I've ever seen. Fake email list ✅ Mathematically impossible customer claims ✅ Refusal to name its (fake) business partners! ✅

I say this all the time to the annoyance of my partners. You cannot ignore the gravity of the industry you are in. Technology may help you build a big company and win, but you cannot ignore gravity.

7/. So what does this mean? Many investors are finally focusing on lines below the top line on a P&L - and are realizing they've made embedded Valuation Bets. And for the next few yrs, it will be far easier to found (& fund) companies where there isn't a dueling valuation regime.

My #1 requirement for a place to live at is whether there is a university in the town.
Quote Tweet
My basic suggestion to college towns is: Focus less on undergrads, and more on getting knowledge workers to move to town. This can be done by: 1. Prioritizing the college's research activities, and 2. Creating a pleasant living environment for remote knowledge workers.

The West has always been behind in supplying weapons to Ukraine, acting reactively rather than proactively. Such delays not only cost lives in the short run but also embolden Putin to continue the war. The West must realize this and give Ukraine the weapons it needs to win ASAP.
