And of course there's that weird frame out that the largest Asian immigrant group in Scandinavia are adoptees from Asia. Also the white fragility and defensiveness are intense. Try giving a talk about race at a Scandinavian Studies conference, I have. Lots of handwringing.

Two very different systems. For me as an European it's unimaginable to have a system like the US in healthcare. But I think it's good we can choose... Uppsala might be one of the most tradtional universities in continental Europe.

#1 What galls me is to hear Americans who've never lived in another country swear "this is the best/greatest country in the world"...and yet Europeans benefit from the great healthcare, education, safer streets and overall higher quality of life...

#2 ...that the USA sometimes strives for (think FDR, Sanders)...What does the GOP do for the USA? Ask yourselves, have Republicans dedicated themselves to the greater good—education, healthcare, Social Security etc? Or just helping themselves/the rich?
