Just finished the book Wanting by . I now see Mimetic Desire everywhere around me (and of course in myself). I never understood why Facebook took over MSN Messenger, but now I know that it was Mimetic Desire. It put everybody in Freshmanistan where all desires collide.

You want to look for asymmetric payoffs in life. If you lose, you don't lose much. But if you win, you win big. YouTube, writing books, and art are such activities.
I wish there were a Twitter feature that let you see other people’s feeds. Like you could type in any handle and your feed would change to what you’d see if you followed everyone they followed. Would be a great way to understand the narratives and values of different bubbles.
