LONE WOMEN discussed as one of the New York Times’ big books of the season. And the episode dropped on my birthday! Quite a gift. Grateful to & for including my novel in their conversation.

Whether they’re black cops, white cops, Asian or Latino cops, they all know who they can kill with impunity. That’s why it’s white supremacy.

“…a pervasively uneasy and brilliantly plotted horror-western hybrid…” Grateful for this wonderful starred review of LONE WOMEN!

A gunman has murdered ten people and injured over a dozen others in Monterey Park, where tens of thousands of Asian American families had gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year that day. He is still at large. This should be getting way more coverage in media. A terrible act.

Here’s a beautiful thread commemorating the death of Paul La Farge, wildly talented writer and a sweetheart of a person as well. Read his work. You’ll be glad you did.

One of my oldest friends, the novelist Paul La Farge, died this week. He was the charismatic and loving center of a vibrant group of writers and creatives for almost 30 years, and a great writer himself, especially about the secret and the strange. 1/3

I now have a chaise lounge in my office and you can’t tell me nothing today. Still have to hang some artwork though.

Waiting at the Y as our son does swim. Four girls enter (8 or 9 yrs. old). Three girls form a circle and say, “This is the circle for the NON-WEIRDOS!” Fourth girl walks away, turns and BELTS OUT a song about Gucci book bags and she is my inspiration.

I know there’s a strong “problem with kids and technology” vibe in the world but we got our older son his first cell phone and I just LOVE seeing his name pop up with a message on my phone. Doesn’t matter what he’s saying, I’m thrilled he’s written.

The Mr. Hyde prosthetics in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie was 🔥 🔥 🔥 and everyone who mocked it was wrong. Rest of the flick was a mess though.
