I’m a little lost here too... The media telling us to distance? People dying in large swaths is a hoax?
People die of flu every year. Mostly elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Swine flu took out many people- we didn’t shut down the country. In the end when not as many people die as with the swine flu we will claim victory because of the defensive measures taken.

It’s hard to say... there isn’t really a ton of good data out there.. I’m no epidemiologist, but it sounds like Italy is really having some trouble at the moment..

I support you fully but I believe that the reason we are taking such drastic measures is because of how global it is, and how benign it may seem. It is much less costly to take overly-defensive measures now than it would be to wrongly judge the impact of it and it wipes us out.

Something like this has happened every 100 years for the past few centuries. 1720: bubonic plague, 1820: cholera outabreak, 1920: Spanish Flu, and now 2020: COVID-19 Swine flu in 2009 was not as bad since we knew how to cure and contain H1N1 from 1920.
