The National Domestic Abuse hotline has seen a 25% increase in calls & online requests for help in past week During the lockdown there’s also been a daily rise in people going on the helpline website & last wk that figure was up by 150% The helpline is open 24/7pic.twitter.com/onHBSfhERV

One of the most worrying aspects of lockdown. The refuges were subject to massive cuts in funding over the past ten years and we can only hope that they are managing to help every woman who needs them now their existence is more important than ever.

It would be less of an issue if so many of the vital services including shelters hadn't had to close due to that government's cuts to that sector over the past decade.

There is also a wider question here post the lockdown how do we enable women and men to remove themselves from toxic/abusive relationships in a safe and sensitive/supportive way. Enable them to protect their children and future children from feeling their is no escape.
