Thank you! Assuming you know the regular Julia set, this is the same process but with quaternions instead of complex numbers! (i.e. start with a quaternion, square it (using quaternion multiplication!) and add some chosen quaternion to it. Repeat until you get glitches.

Are quaternions represented as (x, y, z, c)? What does density represent?

Yeah, forgot about that. I set c to 0 in this (the change is due to varying the quaternion added). The density is a function of the magnitude of the quaternions after this operation (denser = closer to zero). The color is a function of the angle between incident ray and gradient.
