When we see holes that grow and shrink appear in these surfaces at the outer radius, is this due to changes in which layers of the fibration we are seeing, or are you performing some additional soft clipping of some kind to hide places where projection causes extreme distortion?
Well, the first type of surface are inverse maps of circles in the complex numbers, the second type are inverses of radial lines.

To interpolate, I started with the circles, then made a “polar lattice” (the points you get with integer r and angles that are some rational multiples of pi) which can be easily extended to radial lines. Let me know if that made any sense.
