Yeah but almost nobody lives in the touching parts. I don't mean country-to-country boundary distance. I mean person to country. Or maybe person to person even. Like a Beijing citizen's vote in POTUS election would be distance to DC weighted.

Sovereignty is a really toxic idea for both humans and nations, so we end up mitigating their effects with containment boundaries, but explicit interdependence mechanisms would be better.

Doesn’t work in reality. It’s hard enough to drag enough people out of apathy to vote in their own elections...let alone having to care about issues influencing a foreign election. Besides — people have no *real* skin in the game in foreign elections.

Arguably they already do, by controlling monetary policy. It's the people with no such existing representation in domestic policy who I am interested in enfranchising.
