The gift of life is extremely unsolicited - and the social stigma around suicide, by extension, is profoundly rude

It is a repeated line in Kurt Vonnegut’s books, but is not necessarily a suicidal sentiment.
More an excuse for not living well or doing good by someone else’s standards. I often used it that way in my ineffective early 20s before I brazenly claimed mediocrity as a virtue.
