They mostly don’t since they are so in demand. Orgs who want to give them $ have to court them individually unless you’re talking millions per grant. Your 250k total/5-30k individual needs 1:1 sales more than marketing. Talk to top CS profs and ask for intros to top students.

Now if you wanted to give money to humanities/social science types to (say) research ethics or sociology aspects of anonymity, you could slash fund to $2500 total, make each grant $5 -$300, and they’ll fight each other to death for the money

tbf I think 4 grants of 75k have a much bigger chance of serious impact than lots of little grants. It’s hard to cut through the noise of a lot of half-assed underfunded experiments. Diversification risk has to be balanced against underfunding risk.
