ps I get that "rent money" = debt. I'm avoiding that term with all its associations to focus on the analogy to cloud-ization here. ie, what does cloud money look like if you look beyond traditional debt thinking?

I am noodling on a vague idea: many kinds of capital are going from own --> rent, capex --> opex because hassle of owning things is too high when the opex is sufficiently efficient. Can this apply to everything, including money? When is it easier to rent money than to own it?

Its an interesting question, because I don't think renting money does necessarily equal debt in an absolute sense. Debt is just the facility we have created for accessing the rental of money. Venture funding for equity in companies has replaced debt financing in tech for example
