Strange. I had always thought the opposite and even that women were more inclined to be at least mildly cooperative where men were competitive, even antagonistic . Considerable variation in individuals.
I agree with Artie, but we have no good data on how a modern matriarchy would work. Even woman-dominated institutions like nursing, social work, and teaching seem to be male-dominated at the top.
Shared interest clubs like art, sports, animal breeding, genealogy. Many seem to be matriarchies. Primary purpose seems to be to get ppl together rather than pursue specific goal directed transactions.

True on both counts. They still seem to have a reputation of some unpleasant social dynamics: cliques even within the club. So much for the mildly cooperative behavior.
