Simple test: do you *really* think the world would be a better informed place in a broad sense if Wikipedia were shut down by law today? If yes then I walk away from this thread jaw open and doubting your sanity.
You seem to have double standards here. That they even had a female representation task force that failed badly is a step improvement over many academic departments that still manage to hire no female faculty. UMich Aero hired its first woman prof only in 2003, year I left.
