Not necessarily. In bitcoin, it’s whoever is closest to cheap power. In EVs, it’s whoever owns the cobalt and lithium mines. There’s no fixed locus is my point.

I think I see what you're trying to say, but I don't see how that is a meaningful notion. The advantage exists only in comparison to a different pattern of supply/demand. Viewed in temporal isolation, this in-market power is either not a real thing or prices have not yet adjusted

I think human motives will always cash out to there being a bottleneck somewhere, but the specific locus is locally contingent in history and pointless to model philosophically. The economic theories explain local structure but not the locus itself
