Didn’t the geographic extent of SV spread rather slowly from pockets of the peninsula to the whole region? Maybe it didn’t hit her home ground till later, in which case it’s a fair statement

La Honda is still geographically isolated from the peninsula proper, although it played a historically significant role as Ken Kesey's home & the base for the Merry Pranksters in the 1960s, out of which came Stewart Brand and a whole generation of countercultural techno-utopians.
