I have all the answers. If I had an algorithm for delivering the right ones at the right times I’d have a billion dollar app. I would call it “MomApp”.

Annoying how much of maintaining mental health boils down to recalling the right trite thought at the right time: This too shall pass Don’t decide when depressed Drink water Drink Eat Sleep Take a walk Go gymming Let this one go It’s only money Morning is wiser than evening

ugh, look it's not the biggest deal, but please tell me you're joking? from this mom (among other things), who a) fails at delivering perfect answers w/perfect timing all the time & b) resents the implication that it's my job alone to provide these supports... this isn't great.

Whether it is a good or bad thing, I think it’s mostly moms who do this in practice. Dads tend not to be tuned in enough to do it well, but maybe they’ve gotten better since I was a kid.

er well yes, often... there are a lot of reasons for that, & most of them aren't things I want to see perpetuated. I'm guessing you don't either if you think about it. as a joke it's mildly tiring; if you weren't joking I'd find it pretty upsetting.

I have no kids and no firm opinion, but views seem divided on whether MomBranding is perpetuating oppressive gender role stereotypes or acknowledging the reality of maternal instincts. My guess is the latter has at least some biological basis.
