The media is one of those rare products (religion is another) where the part of the product *is* not knowing how it is created. Contrast with cars for eg. If you visit a car factory, you won’t suddenly start disbelieving in affordances of cars (point A to point B transport etc)

"Laws, like sausages, cease to inspire respect in proportion as we know how they are made." There's a sliding scale, I think. The iPhone is still popular despite the labor exploitation, but entertainer brands have gone from gold to dross overnight after sexual allegations.
