An interesting usage I’ve heard a couple of times now is users of web platforms as “civilians” (as opposed to people who work for the platform companies and have some degree of access to the backend and are analogous to “military”) ht @keithmadams

The word "civilian" is used in a lot of different contexts in SG to refer to "the innocents" in almost any situation. It's interesting because basically all the men have been on both sides of the equation. This should be even truer in Israel where women serve too

Some usages are more deeply real than others though I can call non-bloggers civilians but my insider knowledge difference there doesn’t amount to a weaponized difference where I can affect conflicts in leveraged ways
