I think the brain actually has 3 Kahnemannian decision systems, not 2. Sys 1: thin-slice, quick, subconscious, pre-rational real-time Sys 2: rational, slow, conscious, non-real-time Sys 3: slow-aging, post-rational, narrative, integrating online/offline, conscious/subconscious
There you are wrong. Plenty of solid neuroscience emerging that reveal a good deal of deep, evolved structure to the brain that maps to decision-making modes.

i would still argue that these distinctions are more out descriptive or instrumental convenience, which is fine and necessary, but i'm still skeptical that the boundaries between these "systems" is discrete: can we really observe the brain thinking fast or slow?
