I think my thinking style is anti-Straussian. I approach famous thinkers by making up minimum-viable caricatures to put on my own maps. And i do so using recent secondary sources, rather than exploring their mind palaces with reverentially from inside, via original sources.

Two examples: I read Hayek's "Law, Legislation and Liberty" and Tocqueville's "Democracy in America", in both cases because I was forced to as a university student—and it was amazing!
