There's a field studying this stuff, called Psychoneuroimmunology: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoneuroimmunology … Seems pretty early stages (and I have looked into it that much) but definitely something to it and likely something really important.

When I caught public transport to work I would get sick all the time. Now that I cycle it’s much rarer. Periods when I’ve had kids in pre-school have also been bad. This predisposes me to think it’s lifestyle-related germ exposure.

Since I was once one of them, my claim would be genetic predisposition. Pretty much the best way out of the pit is mild meds cardio exercise, diet and gut channel fasting. Then when you 'catch' the cold, it barely registers its presence
