Reading Wright’s book, Non-Zero: the Logic of Human Destiny, got me fired up to go to grad school studying evolution.
Not sure if that makes it exactly the right time or disastrously wrong.
It’s worth a read even if you’re settled in your metaphysical / philosophical worldview. It has great potted summaries of disparate but interesting esoterica (sociology of early human society, intra-genomic conflict, etc) and a fun framework that unifies it all.
It's a great book. I read The Moral Animal first and found that it laid good groundwork. I read The Evolution of God after, and...well, might still be too early on that one.
