Judging it as a 'product' implicitly accepts a paradigm of user as product delivered to client - an enclosure business model colonizing non-rival nature. Other business models (e.g. Wikimedia) could be much better enablers of value creation-distribution

Agreed. Facebook reminds me of American malls. Not going to disappear anytime soon, although I find them ugly, stultefying, and slightly depressing. Occasionally useful. Only enjoyable in small doses.
