Hm, in my experience the most efficient way of making sense of a confusing issue is to challenge it. In defense people would go through all the confusing parts and clear them up. Sadly, this tends to backfire spectacularly for identity-wars-domain issues.

Not just identity wars, but anything to do with subjectivity. When the topic is how someone is feeling internally, the gold standard is what they’re feeling not what anyone else infers. They might be lying or lacking the words to describe things, but there is no superior source
