For most Americans, work reality is primary social reality. Community/neighborhood realities have been weak to nonexistent (cf Putnam’s Bowling Alone thesis) since ~1980s.
Paycheck people have been unusually cognitively protected from infowars relative to free agents/unemployed.

Nice point. This also depends (perhaps only recently) on how much CNN/Fox type news they consume in their down time, AND, if they work somewhere that has Fox/CNN blaring in the background (as many blue collar jobs do).
If the normie meme prison provides loving relationships and protection mental health problems, then I say (and in fact said) "back to work."
At some point these Alt-beliefs are going to have to put-up or shut-up beyond symbolic victories. People need actual care.
