Very interesting. I've seen discussion of the idea as far back as Clay Shirky's 2008 comments about filter failure, and the discussion obvious starts with Toffler's "Future Shock," but I somehow hadn't seen this specific comparison until this tweet.

I don't think it's useful to go that far back... ddos is a very specific metaphor that is actionable in botnet form factor by malicious actors. Toffler and Shirky's models aren't about malicious action.

i don't think it's a great analogy. its a cognitive network disruption. ddos attacks against the brain would just shut it down.
