Any reason Israel doesn't make it in the 2x2 . Too small to occupy "global consciousnesses" space? For me it satisfies spiritual hunger <> cultural openness but I guess a sense of relative calm is required for 2nd world sweet spottedness...

re. 28 (The downside is that due to loss of the benefits of concentration of creative capital, evolutionary pace overall will be slower. Human efforts at evolution spread too thin.) Am I just talking my book to think that a virtual place could eventually fit this bill?
-
Perhaps. Crypto might be an early example of a boom without a location in physical space.

I wonder if it ever made sense to analyze this geographically. As a European/German I never had that longing to go to the US. People I know who had that longing often got disappointed. Similar to people who want to go to the EU.People are occupied by a lot of incomplete fantasies

Consider the differences between the Germans who did immigrate vs the ones who didn’t. I suspect you’ll find a strong personality difference.

How much of this do you attribute to the current POTUS / admin's anti-immig policies & how much to a real long-term trend. I suspect, the momentum from the last several decades will be sufficient to carry it past, what I believe is a temporary dip...
-
Definitely a real long-term trend. Minimum 25 year phase of the cycle now I think. Because it’s not just happening to the US.
