Great, just when all my credit cards finally have chips, I find Europe’s moved to NFC and we are still Luddite.
I guess the US leads in mobile device NFC though, leapfrogging contactless cards.
At least ATM troubles are mostly moot now. Haven’t withdrawn cash last 2-3 trips.

I just got a new credit card that's contactless so some banks are rolling that out I guess

Yep. Used Apple Pay for 90% of all purchases (even rural Scotland and Ireland) last summer. It was like going back to the future.

Chips on cards? That was around since forever... NFC isn't exactly new too. Guess your use of a 100 year old measurement system is not an isolated incident.
