Deep learning makes fuzzy logic look almost like a cargo cult in hindsight.

Machine learning appears to owe a fair bit to fuzzy logic, if en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuzzy_log is to be believed. Deep learning seems like RISC for machine learning: fewer primitives, applied faster / more often.
So . . . FL is the odd uncle in DL's family tree, roughly.
